Blair Moore's exceptional talent, unwavering dedication, and active engagement within New England's design sphere have earned her this esteemed accolade.
In addition to the honor of being recognized among the industry's finest, each awardee undertakes a special endeavor: designing a unique rug for auction at the esteemed New England Home gala on September 12th, 2024. This exclusive event not only showcases the exceptional creativity of the honorees but also serves a noble cause. All proceeds from the rug auction are directed to Barakat, a distinguished charity headquartered in Cambridge, Massachusetts, dedicated to advancing education and literacy in Central and South Asia.
The 5 Under 40 rug auction stands as a beacon of philanthropy, having been the primary fundraiser for Barakat over the past decade. Through generous contributions from patrons and supporters, this initiative has catalyzed transformative change, facilitating the construction of schools, empowering teachers, and providing vital resources such as transportation and healthcare to thousands of girls in Afghanistan and Pakistan. It is with immense pride and gratitude that I share the remarkable news of being chosen as one of the esteemed recipients of the "5 under 40" award by New England Home. This recognition marks a significant milestone in my career, and I am deeply honored to stand among four other exceptional honorees whose work I deeply admire and respect.
Reflecting on my journey, I can't help but acknowledge the profound influence of my upbringing on a working cattle property in the vast landscapes of Australia. Surrounded by the rugged beauty of the land, I absorbed invaluable lessons in purposeful design and the profound connection between objects and the human spirit. These formative years have indelibly shaped my approach to interior design, instilling within me a profound reverence for heritage and craftsmanship.
For me, interior design transcends mere aesthetics; it is a conduit for forging connections—bridging the past, present, and future. I firmly believe in the transformative power of generational furniture pieces that carry within them the weight of history and memory. There is an undeniable allure to a well-loved chair or table, witness to countless gatherings and narratives. It is this sense of continuity and authenticity that animates my every endeavor in design.
In today's fast-paced world, where trends fade as swiftly as they emerge, I remain steadfast in my commitment to timeless design that resonates on a deeper, more enduring level. I eschew the culture of disposable furniture in favor of pieces that evoke emotion, ignite dialogue, and endure the passage of time.
