The Modernist Tudor Reveal

Our clients spent years immersed in the fast-paced energy of New York City’s business world but always knew they wanted a place to slow down, reconnect, and be present in their surroundings. Their search led them to a secluded cove in Jamestown, a rare piece of land surrounded by conservation easements that ensure both privacy and an enduring connection to nature.

The home itself was a blank slate—a new build in need of soul and narrative. Their vision was clear: a peaceful retreat that balances tranquility, function, and longevity. A muted, neutral palette sets the tone, grounding the space in serenity, while thoughtful layers of texture, bespoke cabinetry, and sculptural forms add depth and warmth. The third-floor Sacred Space, dedicated to meditation, yoga, and creativity, is a reflection of their daily rituals, featuring custom-lit crystal storage and a sense of quiet intention.

Every piece in this home was selected with care—timeless, functional, and made to last. From furnishings that adapt to the rhythm of daily life to outdoor seating designed for effortless comfort, nothing feels excessive, yet everything has a presence. This is exactly the type of project we love—where design transcends aesthetics and becomes an extension of a deeply personal way of living.

Our client’s aesthetic is rooted in tranquility and intentionality, favoring soft, muted tones and a sense of visual calm. Our palette of color, materiality, and textures reflects this philosophy, embracing natural elements, sculptural forms, and carefully curated pieces that evoke both warmth and mindfulness. Movement is introduced through layered textures, bespoke cabinetry, and artisanal details, ensuring the space feels both serene and deeply personal.

— THE KITCHEN —

A space of clarity, balance, and quiet refinement, the kitchen is designed to dissolve into its surroundings—neither a focal point nor an afterthought, but an effortless extension of the home. Open to both the living and dining areas, it exists in harmony with the flow of daily life, where movement feels intuitive, and materials speak in soft, muted tones.

The marble waterfall island, with its fluid veining, offers a moment of stillness—cool to the touch, grounding in presence. Custom light-stained cabinetry blends seamlessly into the architecture, creating a sense of continuity and ease. The MRS. Wolcott Stools by ROWEAM, upholstered in a textured bouclé, add warmth and softness, their form both sculptural and inviting. Above, the Allied Maker Aria Pendants cast a gentle glow, their quiet strength anchoring the space.

Thoughtful layers complete the composition: a Thrown Platter, Terra Visage Vase, Salt Glazed Vase, and Gloria Vessel by ROWEAM, each piece chosen not to fill space but to create breath within it. Beneath, a vintage Mahal runner from Passerine weaves history into the present, its well-worn fibers offering a tactile sense of place.

This is a kitchen that does not demand attention but holds it—a space of stillness, simplicity, and resonance.

— LIVING ROOM —

There are moments in design where the goal is not simply to furnish a space, but to create a feeling—a fleeting memory made tangible. A Sunday afternoon bathed in light, the salty sea breeze weaving through gauze curtains, a chair pulled close to the fire, a book in hand, tea steeping nearby. These quiet narratives shape the design, infusing a space with a presence before life has fully unfolded within it.

The living room is designed to feel both rooted and ethereal, substantial yet weightless. The Glustin Luminaires Triangle Alabaster Floor Lamp stands as a sculptural form, its glow soft and atmospheric, illuminating the 1940s Tired Man Chair. This chair, a design that has endured since the 1930s, is the epitome of comfort—its organic, enveloping form a place of rest, both physically and visually. The Ripple Back Sofa by ROWEAM, launching soon, introduces a sense of movement, its undulating lines creating an inviting softness that contrasts with the structured presence of the Moller & Stokke Chairs.

Underfoot, a custom rug woven in Nepal by Woven.is brings subtle texture, anchoring the room in warmth. The Wu Side Table by Egg Collective sits alongside antiques, a seamless conversation between eras—because what is modern today will soon become collectible, just as the Charles Dudouyt Tripod Table has over time. A curation of vessels by ROWEAM, Philip Soucy, and Analise ROWEAM punctuate the space with sculptural intrigue, each piece carefully chosen to enhance the narrative.

Overhead, the Apparatus Arrow Chandelier floats with quiet presence, its form understated yet intentional, much like the room itself. This is a space designed for stillness, reflection, and quiet luxury, where every detail is an extension of a story waiting to unfold.

— DINING ROOM —

A place to sit, linger, and let the view unfold. Designed to be an extension of the landscape rather than a focal point itself, the dining room exists in quiet harmony with the shifting light and the expanse beyond. The architecture pulls back, allowing the ocean air, the soft rustle of trees, and the play of shadows to shape the space as much as the furnishings do.

The Cove Banquette by ROWEAM was designed with this in mind—low-backed, deeply comfortable, yet unobtrusive, so nothing interrupts the line between indoors and out. Paired with the Cove Dining Table in blackened oak, the space feels grounded but effortless, every detail intentionally restrained. Giac Arm Chairs add a sculptural presence without weight, their form delicate yet defined.

Suspended above, the Myrna Custom Pendant by Ladies & Gentlemen Studio offers a soft, diffused glow, barely there yet entirely essential. Beneath it all, a custom Woven.is rug from Nepal anchors the space, its texture quiet but present, threading the room into the rhythm of the home.

Nothing here demands attention. Instead, the design invites a deep breath, an exhale, an openness to the elements beyond.

— LIBRARY OFFICE & OFFICE BATH —

Our goal for this space was to create a cozy breakaway area for our clients to work from home, with a warm and inviting atmosphere similar to a library. However, we wanted to achieve this without breaking the bank on expensive mahogany paneling. Since this was a second home for the clients, we needed to find a cost-effective strategy. After some research, we discovered these beautiful mahogany room dividers from one of our vintage vendors, and they became the focal point of the room. We then complemented them with a mid-century Hans Olsen settee and chairs, a French 1930s coffee table, and a hand-woven rug from Nepal. The combination of these elements created the perfect ambiance we were aiming for.

There is a smaller bathroom located on the main floor that serves the entire living space on the first floor, as well as the bedrooms located on the floor above. I particularly enjoy having one bathroom that reflects our signature broody style. Recently, I came across some vintage stone tiles from Paris that have a beautiful marble veining. The tiles are slightly ballooned in the center, which creates a subtle movement towards the grout lines. The color is a perfect gray, almost resembling the color of an elephant's breath.

— MAIN BEDROOM —

Our main bedroom wanted to be calm and textural for our clients. We custom-made a King-size bed with a lower, more minimal headboard to let the ceiling draw the attention. To patinated vintage sconces and a Petite wooden French bench with radius ends that has the most beautiful, rich, and subtle patina, our custom New Vintage Ghent Side Tables from ROWEAM in natural stain and layered with my favorite Swedish vessels of all time, anything Gunnar Nylun. The little desk nook wanted to be airy and simple with a metal and leather-topped desk and our Javor Pivka chair.

— MAIN BATHROOM —

The original main bathrooms had been fitted with drop ceilings and builder-grade trim and tiles, which were not up to the client's expectations. Our team collaborated with local artisans to craft a modern aesthetic while adding antique finishes, vintage materials, and high-quality products. We imported plumbing fixtures from our motherland, Australia, and had the vanities custom-made by local craftsmen. The custom sinks were created by local concrete artisans, resulting in a modern take on a Moore House Designed bathroom.

— THE GUEST BEDROOM —

The clients have many friends who visit them at the club to play golf, so they wanted to create a separate sleep space in the narrow room. Since I prefer having some privacy even when sharing a room, we divided the space into two zones using a v-groove-divider in the center. We added some charming sconces with ceramic pull chains to create a cozy reading nook.
